There’s no doubt that Alberto Rodriguez is the underdog in the bout but it’s a role that he quite enjoys. When asked by MMA Fighting about his motive to get back into MMA after almost a decade, he said that it had a lot to do with his personal life and the tough divorce he went through:

It’s clear that he’s in a much better place right now and he’s aware that the odds aren’t in his favor but he’s still confident that he can walk out victorious. It’s been a long time since he’s competed in MMA, and hopefully, he’ll be able to hang on with the likes of Ortiz.
There has been a bit of bad blood between the two men and there is going to be fireworks in the cage when they fight.
