GmanModz released a video last week showing off the N64 SP, his design using a real N64 motherboard. The great part about this platform is that it doesn’t come decked out with a full library of N64 games. GmanModz explains how most emulation designs are incompatible and struggle with one to one comparison. Players will be able to insert one of the original cartridges into the base of the device. In the video, GmanModz shows off popular games like Mario 64, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and 1080 Snowboarding.

The device has a clamshell-style, a 5-inch screen, and a battery that lasts about two and a half hours. Modders have been working for years to simplify designs so fans of the N64 can get back to their roots, and it looks like GmanModz has finally accomplished this. The mod is a beautiful porting design and might be the only option until Nintendo Switch starts porting N64 titles over.
