While Mickner was talking about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Gunfight, he revealed that he prefers the regular version of the game mode, and that he will argue for it to stay the next time a new variant is added. He also teased that there is another Gunfight variant coming to the game, though stopped short of providing any concrete details as to what that may entail.

The potential new Gunfight variant in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare could be just about anything, so it’s hard to say with certainty what Mickner is talking about. We also can’t rule out the possibility that he’s not talking about a new Gunfight game mode, but rather something else involving it. For example, we know that Gunfight will soon have the classic Call of Duty 4 map Shipment available, so perhaps Mickner is referring to a new map that’s coming up.
Beyond Gunfight, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players have plenty of new content to look forward to coming up. Infinity Ward has said that it will be updating the game on a weekly basis to add maps, modes, weapons, and more throughout Season 1, so there should be no shortage of things to do in the game.
In the meantime, hopefully this is a sign that Modern Warfare developers will be more open with the community. Some fans have criticized Infinity Ward for not responding to some of the bigger issues that they have with the game, and already people have been calling out the studio for only saying something after Ninja spoke up. Whether or not Infinity Ward will be more open with the community about changes to the game moving forward remains to be seen.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
