Erica Cassidy wanted to send her son to Lillard’s summer basketball camp for the second year in a row, but wasn’t able to get the camp fee together in time to meet the registration date. Determined to exhaust every opportunity, Cassidy sent Lillard a direct message asking if he could spare a slot. She was surprised to receive an email from one of Lillard’s representatives stating that a slot would be open for her son. But the good news didn’t end there.
“Got an email back,” Cassidy wrote on her Facebook page. “‘Damian paid for it.’ I couldn’t believe it.”Lillard’s camp cost $325 to attend. That’s a bargain compared to some camps — especially compared to the $2,000 fee for two-time MVP Stephen Curry’s camp. It meant the world to Cassidy and her family that Lillard took care of the entry fee.
